The Lady and the Dragon 2? After the hit on Netflix, is a sequel possible?

Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo opens the door.

She's not going to bring out her sword tomorrow. Millie Bobby Brown currently filming season 5 of Stranger Things and she's obviously having it for a while. As a result, the continuation of The Lady and the Dragon is not yet in the pipeline.

Officially, The Lady and the Dragon 2 has not yet been confirmed by Netflix, but we can imagine the saga continuing. It must be said that this is (for once) an original fantasy franchise, signed Dan Mazeau, and therefore not taken from a novel. All doors are therefore open to continue.

Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo already mentions the possibility number 2 in the Inside Total Film podcast. “I would be very happy because the universe of Damsel (original title) is really vast and open to possibilities“. A sequel is therefore on the table, even if the filmmaker admits that “the green light” will largely depend on the audiences for the first film.

Exactly, The Lady and the Dragon is currently a hit on the platform. Released this Friday, March 8, the hit ranked first in the Top Netflix charts in 75 countries around the world, including France. More than 35 million households have seen it to date, the best start of 2024 for a Netflix film.

The Lady and the Dragon does even better than Glass Onion (35 million) or Heart of Stone with Gal Gadot (33.1 million).

Millie Bobby Brown therefore seems well on track to return to play Elodie, she who is still the flagship actress of Netflix, and who has already previously validated – beyond Stranger Things – another franchise, Enola Homesat the streamer.
