The Mean Girls still dominate a very small US box office

No major news this week. So Wonka and the others continue to rake in.

There are no crowds in American movie theaters these days. It must be said that the programming lacks big hits to rely on. The only national release last weekend, the science fiction thriller ISS (worn by Ariana DeBose and undated yet in France) is only in 7th position with 3 million dollars in revenue.

It’s little, and very far from the remake of Mean Girls. The comedy that brings back Lolita in spite of myself au taste du jour maintains the lead at the US box office with $11.7 million in revenue, still ahead of Jason Statham in Beekeeper. This Mean Girls 2024 already totals 50 million dollars across the Atlantic and 70 million worldwide. The film should achieve more or less the same performance as its 2004 ancestor (which ended up with $130 million in worldwide revenue). For his part, Beekeeper (not yet dated in France) passes 30 million dollars in North America and maintains its second place in the ranking.

Still on the podium after 6 weeks in theaters, Wonka confirms that it is one of the very big successes of recent months. Paul King’s film takes another 7 million and accumulates 187 million dollars at the US box office, and almost 550 million worldwide. A really beautiful box!

Finally, it can be noted thatAquaman 2 fell to sixth place in the top, and barely passed 110 million after five weeks of operation. The film should end its career with around $400 million in worldwide revenue, or around three times less than the first part!
