The Nautilus series will be released in 2024, but Captain Nemo will not come to Disney Plus

It was AMC which took over the big project adapted from Jules Verne, and filmed last year.

Disney had for some time the idea of adapting 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, the adventure imagined by Jules Verne in 1869, in a new big-budget series. But the group ultimately abandoned the project, and resold the rights to AMC.

Nautilus is a large-scale drama that is sure to please fans of Interview with the Vampire or Orphan Black (series broadcast on AMC in the USA)”, confirms the channel in a press release. “We look forward to airing it on AMC+ and AMC as a special event next year.”

The series has already been filmed. Production has been finished this summer, but Disney, in its objective of reducing costs for Disney Plus, prefers to license the series elsewhere, rather than broadcast it itself. It is therefore AMC which takes back the rights and we do not know, therefore, who will broadcast Nautilus In France.

Nautilus is written and produced by James Dormerwith Michael Matthews as director. Shazad Latif embodies Captain Nemo, while the French Thierry Frémont plays Gustave Benoit and Pacharo Mzembe plays Boniface.

The official synopsis: “Thehe origins of Jules Verne’s most famous character and his legendary submarine.
