The Olympic Flame will ascend the steps of the Cannes Film Festival on May 21

After Marseille, Bastia, or even Perpignan, head for the Croisette!

If it is time for the Cannes festivities, the prospect of the Paris Olympic Games, an exceptional event, remains a priority. So why not combine the two news items?

It's planned, we are toldAFPwhich reports that Cannes Film Festival organizers have confirmed that the Paralympic athlete Arnaud Assoumani (specialist in the triple jump and long jump), would climb the scarlet steps on May 21 with… the Olympic flame!

After being lit on April 16 in the sanctuary of Olympia, Greece, and crossing the Mediterranean, the flame arrived in Marseille on May 8. She subsequently marched on Toulon, Manosque, Arles, Montpellier, Bastia, then Perpignan. As we write this article, she is stopping in the Eastern Pyrenees, from where she will leave for Occitanie.

If it was planned that she would only arrive in Nice, and therefore, on the Côte d'Azur, on June 18 (after the Relais des Océans journey), the organizers saw fit to take her on a little detour by the Croisette before time.

A nice nod to French culture, of which the Cannes Film Festival has been an important part since its creation in 1939.
