The Princess and the Frog series from Disney Plus is confirmed

Tiana will be written by a screenwriter from the brilliant horror series, Midnight Oaths.

This is one of the least popular Disney classics. The princess and the Frog will try to rebuild its image with the public, through a brand new series, for Disney Plus.

Tiana will be a sequel to the 2009 feature film directed by Jon Musker and Ron Clements. And according to Variety, the screenwriter Joyce Sherri was asked by Disney to write and direct this new animated series. The author made herself known by collaborating on Mike Flanagan’s formidable horror series, The Midnight Oaths.

Announced for the first time in 2020, during Disney Investor Day, the project Tiana had been put on hold recently and it is therefore confirmed today with the hiring of Joyce Sherri.

At the casting, Anika Noni Rose will come back to double Tiana in this musical series which will take place after the events of the 2009 film, while the young woman “embarks on a grand new adventure as the newly crowned princess of Maldonia, even if her past in New Orleans is never far away”, tease the synopsis/

The project will be produced by Jennifer Lee of Snow Queen and Stella Meghie, who was initially to be the screenwriter and director before leaving office.
