The Rings of Power season 2: evil reigns in Middle-earth (Trailer)

Big week for The Lord of the Rings: after Gollum soon in cinemas, Sauron is back in streaming…

The news in Tolkien land doesn't stop. Two years ago, the Amazon Prime series, The Rings of Power left viewers eager to discover the rise of the Dark Lord as the young Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) discovered the secret and evil identity ofHallbrand (Charlie Vickers) – the man who posed as one of the last kings of the South. The one we now know under the name of Sauron was about to take the step towards Mordor, land over which he will reign and implement his plan of domination. Faced with the evil growing in Middle-earth, three rings were forged by Celebrimbror (Charles Edwards) and given to the elves. The war has only just begun…

Taking place three thousand years before the events of Lord of the Ringsthe first season of Rings of Power attracted no less than 100 million viewers around the world – despite mixed reviews. Will they be discouraged from watching season 2?

Rings of Power: only 37% of American subscribers have completed season 1!

Announced as “darker and scarier” by its producer, Lindsey Weber, as well as by the interpreter ofIsidulr, Max Baldry, the just-revealed trailer confirms the dark bent towards which season 2 leans.

The new Lord of the Rings movie has a name and a director!

“An ancient and powerful evil has returned.” It's no longer a secret. Sauron, Morgoth's disciple, is in Middle-earth and darkness is spreading dangerously. From the kingdom of Numenor, to the mines of Moria, Sauron plans his takeover, while Galadriel, Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and new faces unite and prepare to face an evil with many appearances. “Evil has many names”.

Accompanied by epic and distressing music, the trailer reveals the new appearance of Hallbrand, now Sauron. To go incognito among the elves and secretly forge the rings of power (9 for men and 7 for dwarves) to govern them all, the latter wears blond hair. Here he is in the shoes of Annatar.

More rings (we counted), fights, solo quests and winks (a giant eagle, the Stranger holding a staff in his hand potentially revealing his half-recognized identity, and the watcher of the Waters, underwater creature close to Moria already visible in The Fellowship of the Ring), this season 2 promises to be even better. It all begins and ends in Mordor, with Barad-Dûr visible in the final background.

Before we see what season 3 has in store for us, season 2 of Rings of Power will be available on Amazon Prime from August 29 – well after season 2 of House of the Dragon, this time. The lesson has been learned.
