The sequel to Mr Wolff, starring Ben Affleck, will be released on Prime Video

The platform reveals part of the casting and the synopsis of this second part.

We know a little more about the rest of Mr Wolff. Last month, we learned that Ben Affleck would reprise the role of nerd for a sequel to the film Gavin O'Connor released in 2016. Yesterday, the American media IndieWire revealed to us that the rights to this second part were bought from Warner Bros. by Amazon MGM. Conclusion: the film whose filming is planned for this year will not be released in theaters, but on the Prime Video streaming platform.

But only the studio changes. Other than that, we take the same ones and start again! Even if Anna Kendrick seems to be missing, eight years later, JK Simmons, Jon Bernthal And Cynthia Addai-Robinson will reprise their roles alongside Ben Affleck, and Gavin O'Connor and Bill Dubuque will once again put on their respective hats of director and screenwriter.

The studio also lets slip the synopsis of this sequel:

“When her former boss is killed by unknown assassins, Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina (Addai-Robinson) is forced to contact Christian Wolff (Affleck) to solve the murder. With the help of his estranged and very dangerous brother Brax (Bernthal), Chris uses his brilliant mind and bordering on illegal methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle. As they get closer to the truth, the trio attracts the attention of some of the most ruthless killers around, all determined to put an end to their search.”

Recall that the original film introduced the character of Christian Wolff as a chartered accountant whose mathematical genius, which he puts at the service of criminal organizations, leads him to work for a robotics company victim of fraud, while he is himself the subject of an investigation by the anti-criminal brigade.

Mr Wolff: a little action thriller with a great Ben Affleck

This is the fourth film that Ben Affleck, through Artists Equity, the company he co-founded with his sidekick Matt Damon, develops with Amazon MGM. Last May came out Air, on the genesis of the famous range of Nike sneakers. And then there was The Greatest Story Never Tolddocumentary going behind the scenes of the latest album of Jennifer Lopezwhich will also appear in Unstoppable, biopic dedicated to the wrestler Anthony Robles, another Ben Affleck/Amazon collaboration. The latter is also working on his next film, Animalsa political thriller.

If the actor-producer is at the head of a company aiming to better distribute the profits from the films produced to all collaborators, this choice still occurs in a context where the exclusive release of films on platforms is debated. Barely two weeks ago, we learned that Road House would be released on Prime Video, but that its own director, Doug Limancalled on the public to boycott it, considering the film harmed by a theatrical release – quickly thwarted by a release of Jake Gyllenhaalheadliner of the reboot, affirming that the film was always intended to be broadcast on the platform.

For now, this sequel to Mr Wolff does not yet have a release date, but it already has a major challenge: to match the first film which generated $155 million at the worldwide box office when it was released in theaters in 2016.
