The Way of the Wind: two French directors win first prize at the CineSpace Festival

Virginie Drouot and Adélaide Rocherolle caused a sensation in Houston, at a festival organized by NASA.

This Sunday, November 19, in Houston, Texas, French filmmakers Virginie Drouot And Adelaide Rocherolle brought stars to the eyes of the NASA jurors. Indeed, their short film The Way of the Wind won first prize in the 9th edition of the CineSpace Festival, a cinematic event born from the collaboration of NASA and the Houston Cinema Arts Society. The festival highlights films using real space images produced by experts.

The Way of the Wind tells the true story of Mae Jemison, the first African-American astronaut to travel to space. Her journey is far from linear since the film tells how she abandoned her artistic ambitions to become a scientist, then an astronaut. She later joined NASA and even appeared in an episode of Star Trek: Next Generation. LaToya Rucker plays the main role. The actress was named Miss Woman United States 2022-2023 and begins her film career under the direction of Virginie Drouot And Adelaide Rocherolle.

This year, the CineSpace Festival was chaired by the director Richard Linklater (Boyhoodthe trilogy Before) and among the jurors, composed of cinema professionals and NASA experts, there was notably Dan Jacobs Sr., Strategy and Innovation Advisor at the Office of International and Interagency Relations. Hopefully this price will allow Virgine Drouot And Adelaide Rocherolle to go to infinity and beyond.
