This former Irish rugby player will be the next star of Game of Thrones

Peter Claffey, seen in Bad Sisters, has just been cast to play Dunk in the new series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

After Sean Bean, Kit Harington, Richard Madden, Rhys Ifans or Matt Smith, Peter Claffey will be the next star actor of Game Of Thrones.

The British actor, almost unknown in the battalion, has just landed one of the most prominent roles on the Hollywood small screen. He will play Dunk, the Knight of the 7 Kingdoms, in the adaptation of Dunk & eggthe new series Game Of Thrones commissioned by HBO. Titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knightt, it takes place a century before the events of the parent series and follows two unlikely heroes wandering Westeros. A naive but courageous young knight, Ser Duncan the Great (aka Dunk) and his young squire, Egg.

Crossed quickly in Bad Sisters on Apple TV+ then in the British series Wreck, Peter Claffey Impressive with his height and build (he measures 1.96 m), ideal for the role. It must be said that the 27-year-old Irishman is a former professional rugby player, notably playing for Connacht.

At his side is the very young Dexter Sol Ansell (recently seen in Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird) who was chosen to play Egg, Dunk's young squire.

“Set in a time when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has yet to fade from living memory, the story will follow great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous exploits. .”

The prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight will be written and produced by George RR Martin and Ira Parker. Release planned for the end of 2025.
