Three teenage girls work for the feminist cause in HLM Pussy (trailer)
Donald Trump’s video “women, grab them by the pussy” inspired the director for the title of the film, claiming a spirit of feminist revolution.
Amina, Djeneba and Zineb, three inseparable teenagers, will experience disruptions at the heart of their trio. In a burst of feminist revolution, they upload a video on social networks where they react to the attack suffered by one of them. They will be faced with a dilemma: save their friendship or give in to pressure.
Directed by Nora El Hourch (A few seconds), the title seems to come from a video of Donald Trump dating from 2005, brought to the surface in 2016 as the comments made were so scandalous:
“The title came to me at the time of the controversy sparked by Donald Trump. He made obscene comments about women in 2005 and the video reappeared in 2016, at the time of his election: ‘women, grab them by the pussy‘ (“women, grab them by the pussy”). Following these declarations, many feminist movements took up the word ‘pussy’ and I told myself that that was going to be the gang name of my characters”, explains the director in the press release.
“I always wanted to represent a trio because when I was younger, I was part of one. It’s a bit of a bastard number. In a friendship, there are always arguments. In this configuration, we often see two girls ganging up on the third. It was the best way for me to isolate the character of Amina, while playing with this social and geographical border that exists between the girls.“, she also said.
In the casting of this friendly turmoil, Léah Aubert, Medina Diarra, Salma Takaline and the participation of Bérénice Bejo in the role of Chantal.
HLM Pussy is to discover the March 6, 2024 in theaters.
