Greta Gerwig would have liked to offer a cameo to her Daughters of Doctor March actor.

This summer, Greta Gerwig confessed to Hollywood First Look that she would have liked to offer a cameo to two of her favorite actors, Saoirse Ronan And Timothée ChalametIn barbie. But its flagship actors Lady Bird and Daughters of Doctor March were unable to adjust their schedule to that of the filming of the Warner Bros. blockbuster.

“I tried to get them both into this film. But they couldn’t do itregretted the director. Timothée was able to visit us on set, and he said to me: ‘I should have participated.’, and I was like: ‘But so much! Participant in Tonight Show by Jimmy Fallon to defend WonkaTimothée Chalamet confirmed that there was indeed talk of filming a cameo in barbiebut since they were unable to match their schedules with Greta Gerwig’s during the shooting of the blockbuster, he doesn’t even know what he would have played on screen.

“Yes, there was talk of us appearing with Saoirse, just for a cameo, explains the actor. I don’t know what it would have consisted of. Maybe we would have played a rejected Barbie or Ken? Not Alan! But maybe there was a French Ken rejected in Barbie Land?”

The actor laughs, while confirming that he was able to go to the set for a few moments while filming Wonka, which was also filmed at the Warner Bros. studios in England. But on the day of the visit, Gerwig had not planned to have him play. Saoirse Ronan was busy shooting for The Outrun during the filming of barbie.

Other popular comedians missed out on a role in barbielike Jonathan Groff (Mindhunter, Matrix Resurrections), who was in the running for the role of Alan before Michael Cera was cast. Bowen Yang (The Lost City, Bros), Dan Levy (Welcome to Schitt’s Creek) and Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect) also auditioned for play Ken, but their participation fell through for logistical reasons. Lucy Bevan and Allison Jones, the film’s casting directors, shared multiple anecdotes about it once barbie released in the cinema.
