Timothée Chalametreadily recognizes the competition imposed Austin Butleractor with whom he will share the poster of Dune 2 of Denis Villeneuve. The 5-star cast of this second part brings together big names from Hollywood like Zendaya, Christopher Walken, Florence Pugh or Léa Seydoux.

Denis Villeneuve brings together in this sequel two young talents with a more than promising Hollywood future. Or oppose them, rather, since Timothée Chalamet, who plays the hero Paul Atréides, will face Austin Butler in the shoes of his sworn enemy, Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen.

Most recently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for ElvisAustin Butler raises the level of young actors in Hollywood, considers Timothée Chalamet, who discusses his constant evolution during an interview for GQ. The latter expands on Austin Butler’s influence and how it encouraged him to redouble his efforts in his work. An NBA fan, the Franco-American interprets this as a stimulating challenge.

“All great actors are motivated by competition, and Timothée is no exception (…) Whether it is internalized or more obvious, what is certain is that everyone wins when an actor gives his best, that creates an emulation”, approves Cale Boyter, producer of Dune.

The interviewer of GQ then asks Timothée Chalamet if Austin Butler still has the vocal expressions of the King of Rock’n Roll.

“No, that’s the thing, he was already talking with Stellan Skarsgård’s (…) Everyone was stunned. I have no words to say how much this inspired me personally.”, he says, letting out a laugh.

Having just got rid of the voice of Elvis, Austin Butler is transformed into Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, the big villain of this long-awaited sequel – unfortunately postponed to 2024 due to the Hollywood strike. His character turns out to be the nephew of Baron Vladimir (Stellan Skarsgård) and brother of Glossu Rabban (David Bautista). In David Lynch’s version, he was played by Sting opposite Kyle Maclachlan.

Furthermore, his partner Dave Bautista himself highlighted the impressive assimilation of Austin Butler in his role as a monstrous antagonist.

I don’t know who this person is. He is neither Austin Butler nor Elvis. His voice is different, his look is different. Everything about his behavior is terrifying”, the former wrestler recently explained to USA Today.

The future Willy Wonka praises his colleague (and potential competitor) by emphasizing his seriousness and his benevolence on screen as in life.

He shows incredible seriousness in his work, he explains. I had never seen anything like that in someone my age – not at school, not on set. I’ve seen people who are very diligent, yes, but as soon as you cut the camera, you immediately see that they take themselves seriously. While he, none of that, he remains friendly. A lovely guy.”

In order to best interpret Bob Dylan, Timothée Chalamet set his sights on the team that supervised Austin Butler for Elvis.

Basically, I hired his entire Elvis team to practice playing Dylan. When I saw the way he fit in with his game, I told myself I had to step up.”argues the actor.
