While waiting for the continuation of the phenomenon Bridgerton on Netflix, which will offer its season 3 next year, Apple TV+ will offer fans of Victorian romances the opportunity to immerse themselves in The Buccaneers, adaptation of the latest novel by Pulitzer Prize winner Edith Wharton. Somewhere between The Gilded Age (HBO series by Julian Fellowes) and The Bridgerton Chronicles, The Buccaneers follows rich young girls from good American families, who try their hand at English high society.

In the 1870s, a group of young American women dynamite the London social season in defiance of the century-old traditions of the country of phlegm par excellence, giving rise to a clash of cultures between England and the United States. The casting is centered on Kristine Frøsethwho was the young star of The Truth about the Harry Quebert affair against Patrick Dempsey. She will be accompanied across the Channel by Alisha Boeformer high school student 13 Reasons Why. Josie Totah, Aubri Ibrag, Imogen Waterhouse, as well as Christina Hendricks and Josh Dylan complete the cast.

The series’ soundtrack will feature songs by Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo.

The Buccaneers is written by showrunner Katherine Jakeways and directed by Susanna White. Made up of 8 episodes, the first three will be available on Apple TV+ from Wednesday November 8, followed by a new episode every Wednesday until December 13.
