A sequel is in the pipeline according to producer Gary Goetzman.

It was a revolutionary film at the time, with an assumed digital aesthetic. First film made entirely in motion capture, in 2004, The Express Pole should have a sequel. Pôle Express 2 is currently in development, according to producer Gary Goetzman.

“I would love to do this sequel,” he says in Coming Soon. “I would also love to do a sequel to Max and the Maximons. They are well-established brands and that may make studios want to do more. We’re not going to do anything and all that takes time but it doesn’t matter. I don’t mind things moving slowly. Yes, we’re definitely trying to make The Express Pole 2.”

Based on the children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg (1985), the film was carried by Tom Hanks and produced by Robert Zemeckis. It has established itself over time as a Christmas classic.
