Virgin River reveals its Christmas episodes in the trailer for season 5 part 2

Virgin River: what the Christmas episodes announce for season 6

Mel’s dad, a dog and all that…

End of year atmosphere Virgin River, with the two Christmas episodes of season 5, which were uploaded this week to Netflix. But no end of series! Virgin River will return in 2024 with a season 6 and this double “Christmas Special” has already laid the foundations. Spoiler alert!

First, obviously, Mel found her father! It’s not Doc (Tim Matheson), nor Nick Montgomery (Keith MacKechnie) nor even Buck! Mel’s father is a certain Everett Reid, a character never seen in the series and played by John Allen Nelson.

He also has something very serious to say to his daughter… “This is something that will affect Mel personally,” already admits the showrunner of Virgin RiverPatrick Sean Smith, to TVLine, clarifying that he will become a major part of Mel’s life next season, which will make things a little awkward for Doc. “What we explore in season 6 is a sort of paternal love triangle,” Smith explains. “Doc has always been Mel’s surrogate father, so we’ll see what happens when her real biological father comes into her life and how it affects their relationship.”

In addition, Mel’s family has also expanded with a little puppy (named Pony). A nod to Robyn Carr’s books: “One of the books in the saga is about finding a basket of puppies, so that was a bit of a reference to that. There are a ton of winks in these two episodes.” specifies the showrunner.

Finally, with a baby girl on the way, Lizzie and Denny might consider getting married in Season 6. It’s something they’re exploring,”but becoming new parents is overwhelming enough at the moment“, suggests the showrunner. “In the future, their relationship will reflect the realities of their situations, as they move from youthful problems to real young adult problems.”

To see in season 6 of Virgin River in 2024.
