The film in theaters: Killers of the Flower Moon by Martin Scorsese

7 years later SilenceScorsese is making his comeback in theaters (The Irishman was a Netflix exclusive) and brings together DiCaprio and De Niro in a epic film that tackles one of the most shameful pages in the history of white America. An immense work, in more than one way, splashed by the talent of Lily Gladstone. With each release, Marty gets closer to the end, and we can only revel in the last lessons of cinema that he still has to offer us.

Series : Of money and blood by Xavier Giannoli

Forget Nicloux and his crazy documentary on Netflix (The Kings of Scam). Forget Marchal and his muscular thriller (Carbon). The carbon tax scam finally has its definitive series. Giannoli signs a saga under Scorsesian influence carried by crazy actors (special mention to Ramzy as a fanciful con artist). Behind the gleaming thriller and the colorful characters lies a moral and political thriller that explores the madness of voracious capitalism.

The film on VOD: Last night in Milan by Andrea di Stefano

The always imperial Pierfrancesco Favino shines as a seemingly good carabinier in all respects, whose dangerous flirtation – and for a long time silenced – with illegality will suddenly explode in his face, the day he is about to hand in his uniform. A carefully executed thriller (filmed in 35 mm) and rich in cleverly orchestrated twists and turns thanks to the quality of writing of its characters rich in ambiguity.

The classic : Repulsion by Roman Polanski

To celebrate Catherine Deneuve’s 80th birthday, Arte is offering seven of her films on its site, from Donkey Skin has Potiche. We will begin the celebration with an early gem of his film, Repulsion. Black, the jewel: the first of Polanski’s schizo-paranoid closed doors, which watches the actress go into a spin and bump against the walls of her black and white apartment, in a sixties London but not swinging at all.

The short movie : Strange Way of Life by Pedro Almodovar

Small event during its screening in Cannes, Strange Way of Life did not attract the crowds in theaters and that is a shame: in 31 minutes, Almodóvar manages to create an entire universe around the repressed romance of a cowboy (Pedro Pascal) and a sheriff (Ethan Hawke) who share a past as hitmen. Striking melancholy and exemplary sense of suspense. We would have liked it to last an hour longer.
