The film in theaters: The Animal Kingdom by Thomas Cailley

For his second feature film, the director of Fighters changes gear and signs a hybrid film, between socio thriller, fantastic fable and teen movie, carried by exceptional actors (Romain Duris and Paul Kircher in the lead) and striking special effects. By what devilry could a French filmmaker have been able to evade all the traps of the industry and produce such a spectacle? This is the question we’ve been asking ourselves since we discovered this stunning masterpiece in Cannes.

The film on VOD: Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse

The continuation ofInto the Spider-Verse pushes all the cursors into the red and propels Miles Morales into the heart of the reactor, right into the cosmic mess that is the multiverse. A barely believable visual and narrative challenge, Across the Spider-Verse deconstructed and reconstructed in the same movement. Elastic, experimental, psychedelic and full as an egg. The film on TV: Puss in Boots 2, by Joel Crawford and Januel P. Mercado

11 years after a very forgettable spin-off, Puss in Boots 2: The Last Quest is THE irresistible sequel to the Shrek saga, which innovates both story-wise (the 9 lives of the feline are a good pretext for comedy) and visually: the changes in animation style are stunning! Special mention to the big bad wolf, an unforgettable adversary without whom the adventure would not be as thrilling.

The nugget: Good pleasure by Francis Girod on MK2 Curiosity

Before Bernadette, Catherine Deneuve had already passed through the Elysée box. In 1983, she played the hidden mistress of a politician who became President of the Republic, whose hidden child she was expecting in the adaptation of the roman à clef by Françoise Giroud where any resemblance with the story of François Mitterrand, Anne and Mazarine Pingeot (then unknown to the general public) was anything but accidental. With Trintignant as President and Serrault as Minister of the Interior alongside Queen Catherine.

The classic : Element of crime by Lars von Trier

From his first feature, Lars von Trier made “from ugliness a source of beauty” to translate human complexity. Here a detective under hypnosis remembers a past investigation surrounding a serial killer. The flashbacks twist the perception of reality. The living and the dead merge. Fans of the Danish must have seen the matrix.
