Where to see Oppenheimer in IMAX in France?

Only a few cinemas are equipped with this technology in the country.

The output ofOppenheimer is imminent. The new movie from Christopher Nolan retracing the journey of the physicist behind the atomic bomb arrives on July 19 in all theaters in France. But this film has a particularity: it was entirely shot in IMAX, “the best format ever created” according to the director.

However, this advanced technology is still far from being widely distributed in the world. In the United States, there are only 25 rooms of this type! In France, we manage with 9 equipped cinemas. The list is available on a dedicated website created by Universal, where you can already reserve your places:

  • Pathé La Villette (75)

  • Pathé Quai d’Ivry (94)

  • Pathé Carré Sénart, Lieusaint (77)

  • Pathé Conflans Sainte Honorine (78)

  • Pathé Tours (cinema Loire) (37)

  • Pathé Saran (45)

  • Gaumont Disney Village (77)

  • Gaumont Rouen Grand-Quevilly (76)

  • Gaumont Reims Vintage Park (51)

Despite this reduced access to the IMAX, Christopher Nolan defends this technology body and soul. “The IMAX evokes emotion like no other format”, he says. The teams went so far as to create 65 mm black and white film, which did not exist before the shooting of the film.

Oppenheimer will be released on July 19. The cast includes Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Jack Quaid and Rami Malek.

Oppenheimer is 18 km tall and weighs 300 kg
