Why Nicola Coughlan embraced nudity in Bridgerton 3 scenes
“A big Fuck to all this talk about my body!”
She is now the star of Bridgerton. After Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashely), Nicola Coughlan takes center stage in the skin of Penelope Featherington, who is no longer content with writing about other people's romances, but intends to live her own, in season 3 of the Netflix series. Moreover, in line with what the Victorian drama has been able to do at its naughtiest, this new chapter does not hesitate to lay it bare… Warning, spoilers!
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Nicola Coughlan recounts her sex scenes with Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton) in season 3 and says he found them liberating: “At the end of the day, we were both lying under a blanket, not dressed but just relaxed. We said to ourselves that, after all, this is what nudists must experience…”
For Buzzfeed, she even specifies that she absolutely wanted to be “very naked” in this season 3 of Bridgertonas a direct response to the trolls who attacked her round shapes on the networks: “You already have to ask yourself: 'Okay, what do I want to show? What do I not want to show? What is scripted and what do I want to add ? » From there, I specifically requested that certain lines of dialogue and certain moments be included.“
Nicola Coughlan also recounts this scene where “I am very naked in front of the camera, and it was my idea, my choice. It was a big Fuck all the online discussions about my body. I found this incredibly empowering. I felt beautiful at that moment and I said to myself, “When I'm 80, I want to look back and remember how sexy I was!” »
