Why there won’t be season 5 of Sex Education

“In any teen series, there’s always some sort of natural conclusion.”

High school years are now a thing of the past for Otis, Eric and their classmates. Sex Education. They are no longer teenagers discovering their bodies. They have grown. And the series is over.

Creator Laurie Nunn reveals in The Hollywood Reporter why we had to say goodbye to the characters in season 4 and why Sex Education will not have season 5.

It had to stop at some point and all our actors are doing so well. It’s wonderful to see them like this.”comments the designer, whileEmma Mackey and the others made it in Hollywood. “Our casting director, Lauren Evans, is brilliant at finding these new talents and it’s a joy for a teen series to work with really promising young actors, crafting characters around them and watching them grow. It’s so cool to see that Ncuti Gatwa will even become the next Doctor Who!”

In this idea, Laurie Nunn explains that the actors and actresses of Sex Education are now too old to continue. Asa Butterfield And Emma Mackey – Otis Milburn and Maeve Wiley – are now 26 and 27 years old!

“We’re all a lot older than we were when we started, so I think in any teen show there’s always some sort of natural conclusion. Every teen show has an obligatory ending, because people can’t play teenagers forever. So yeah, it was definitely the right time to end Sex Education.”
