Will we see Baylan Skoll again in Star Wars?

“There is a story to continue,” admits Dave Filoni, despite the death of Ray Stevenson.

He was one of the best characters in the series Ahsoka. Former Jedi knight, not completely switched to the dark side, but in an ambivalence which gave an orange color to his lightsaber, Baylan Skoll is a supporter of an authoritarian regime, capable of holding the Galaxy and its excesses with an iron fist . Whether that of one Emperor or another.

A powerful character created by Dave Filoni and embodied by Ray Stevensonunfortunately died last May, after filming season 1 ofAhsoka. Technically, Baylan Skoll is supposed to return in the sequel. But how ?

Promoted to creative director of Lucasfilm, Dave Filoni responds in Vanity Fair:

“Clearly there is a story to continue”, he says. “We are currently in a wait-and-see attitude. We’re waiting to see how we’re going to do it…”

Between the lines, Dave Filoni opens the door to a recast of the character, while saluting “Ray and how great he was on the show. I used to have mini-debates with him, where I had to remind him that he was the bad guy here. But he didn’t see the character like that. I liked that he played Baylan Skoll like he wasn’t the villain of the story. This is exactly how Baylan sees himself. I think Ray would have loved the reaction from the fans and I’m sorry he didn’t get to see that.”

It will be recalled that the season 1 finale, Baylan set out to explore this old world told in old Jedi legends: the gods of Mortis, who come from an enigmatic race of beings sensitive to the Force and capable of changing shape. They are called Force Vectors. Three of them, the Gods of Mortis (the father, the son and the daughter) were so powerful that their powers jeopardized the balance of the galaxy. So they went into exile…

The sequence of Baylan Skoll on their giant statues was kept in the finale ofAhsokaalthough it could have been cut after the actor’s death Ray Stevenson. Proof that Star Wars going to dig into this in the sequel, whether it’s a season 2 dAhsoka or the film of Dave Filoni.
