Willem Dafoe inaugurated his star on the Walk of Fame alongside Pedro Pascal and Mark Ruffalo

The mad scientist from Poor Creatures was delighted with this honor. The proof in videos.

With the support of some of his many collaborators, including the filmmaker Guillermo del Toro or the actors Mark Ruffalo, Pedro Pascal, Patricia Arquette And Camila Morroneas well as his friends and family, William Dafoe delivered a touching speech about his journey as an actor, during his star inauguration ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard.

On the podium, William Dafoe shared how thrilled he was that the Wisconsin kid he once was would receive such an honor:

When I was a kid growing up in Appleton, Wisconsin, believe me, I never imagined this day when I would have a star on the Walk of Fame, but I have to say, I watched the celebrities having one star and who are from Appleton, a town of 70,000 people. Someone from Appleton already has their star. His name was Erik Weisz. Anyone know this name? Harry Houdini. It’s truly humbling to be here and be a part of this. I love making films. It’s arguably the most collaborative art form.” the actor said.

Among his many iconic roles, William Dafoe played Jesus in The Last Temptation of Christby Martin Scorsese, the Green Goblin in Spiderman of Sam Raimi and in Spider-Man: No Way Homelighthouse keeper Thomas Wake in The LighthouseClem Hoatley in Nightmare Alley of Guillermo del Toroseveral key roles with Lars Von Trier, Paul Schreder or Abel Ferrara, without forgetting Platoon (1986)Oliver Stonewhich marked the spirit of Pedro Pascalwhen he was just a child.

“I discovered this film with my father and I was crying so much that he sent me to the toilet!”laughs the actor The Last of Us alongside his 68-year-old friend.

The day Willem Dafoe realized he had “a special face”

William Dafoe has marked the cinema with his constant presence since 1975. The actor has been nominated four times for the Oscars and four times for the Golden Globes – most recently for his role as Dr. Godwin Baxter in Poor Creatures.

He was delighted with this award honoring his entire prolific career:

I just want to say, it’s wonderful to be part of this community of artists, people who, by sharing their experiences, imagining the perspectives of others, telling stories and thinking about what is, was… People capable of bringing us closer to each other and connecting us.
