Wizards of Waverly Place returns… with Selena Gomez!

A sequel, 15 years later, is in preparation at Disney.

This is the series that launched the career of Selena Gomez : The Wizards of Waverly Place will be relaunched by Disney. And the flagship duo of the original casting, namely Selena Gomez And David HenrieWill be back !

According to Deadline, the studio has ordered a pilot for a direct sequel to the teen fantasy sitcom that aired on Disney Channel for four seasons between 2007 and 2012. Gomez and Henrie will serve as producers and reprise their roles as Alex and Justin Russo. Small downside: it will only be guest appearances!

Indeed, the new series Waverly Place will be worn by two new faces: Janice LeAnn Brown (Disney’s Just Roll with It), Alkaio Thiele (Call Me Kat) and Mimi Gianopulos (American Princess).

So what story for this new series?

She will talk about a “mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo gave up his wizard powers, opting for a normal human life with his wife and two sons. But he gets a surprise when a powerful young wizard in need of training comes knocking at his door. Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the wizarding world.”

The new pilot will be written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. No date yet.
