“Wokism killed Han Solo, not me,” laughs Adam Driver on the set of SNL

Kylo Ren set the record straight while hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend.

Adam Driver made his list for Santa Claus: invited for the fourth time on the set of the legendary show Saturday Night Live, the actor also took the opportunity to put things straight (with humor) on one of the scenes which has the most shaken pop culture over the last ten years:

“I turned 40 this year, Santa, so I’d like five pairs of chinos. I also wish people would stop coming up to me on the street and saying “You killed Han Solo!” I didn’t kill him. Wokism killed Han Solo“, declared the interpreter of Kylo Ren.

Obviously, the joke refers to the moment when Driver, in the costume of the big bad Kylo Ren, killed his dad Han Solo (Harrison Ford) in Episode VII of Star Wars, The force awakens.

Long controversial, the death of Han Solo appeared as a trauma for fans of the saga taking place in a galaxy far, far away… But the joke is also there to provoke the haters who denounce the so-called “wokism ” from Disney, the studio which bought Star Wars and which is regularly “accused” of misplaced progressivism because of its artistic choices perceived as biased. So much so that Bob Iger, the boss of Disney, recently declared that the studio’s creatives should put less “messages” in films and more “entertainment”.

At the end of his musical performance, Adam Driver does not fail to mention that he recently played the role of a racing driver and businessman Enzo Ferrari In Ferraria biographical film directed by Michael Mann which also features Penelope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, Sarah Gadon, Gabriel Leone, Jack O’Connell And Patrick Dempsey.
