Yorgos Lanthimos’ next film will be a remake of a Korean film

Filming on the project is expected to begin this summer, in the UK and New York.

While Poor creatures has just won five awards at the BAFTAs, including Best Actress for Emma Stone, Variety announces that Yorgos Lanthimos is preparing to shoot his next film. Produced by Ari Asterthe film is a remake of the South Korean black comedy Save the Green Planetdirected by Jang Joon-hwan in 2003.

The plot tells the story of a young man kidnapping a businessman to torture him because he is convinced that he is an alien who has taken human form. The balance of power will fluctuate between the young man, his devoted girlfriend, the businessman and a private detective. The project remained in the works for many years. Initially, he was the director of the original Jan Joon-hwan who was to do the remake.

But before this remake project, the filmmaker has another film currently in post-production which will be the next to be released. This film is called Kind of Kindness and tells three different stories with the same cast in each story. The actors will therefore play three different roles throughout the film. He finds actors with whom he has already collaborated like Emma Stone And William Dafoe. With them, Jesse Plemons, Margaret Qualley, Hunter Schafer And Hong Chau will come and lend them a helping hand.

There is no other information regarding Kind of Kindness or the remake of Save the Green Planet. For his part, Poor creatures landed eleven Oscar nominations, making it a serious challenger with Oppenheimer (11 nominations) and barbie (7 nominations).
