Yvan Attal attempts A Throw of the Dice with Guillaume Canet and Maïwenn: trailer
A stifling thriller about two couples and a murder story.
After Human things, Yvan Attal once again takes on a literary work, in a film in which he directs and performs.
Mathieu owes everything to his friend Vincent, his house, his work and even his life. With their companions, the two friends form an inseparable group, vibrating to the rhythm of the peaceful French Riviera. Witness (or even accomplice) of a dangerously thwarted love trio, Mathieu will have to deal with palpable tension, between loyalty and devastating doubts. It’s when the assassination of Vincent’s mistress occurs that relationships become stripped away. The cast of this thrilling thriller: Guillaume Canet, Maïween And Marie-Josée Croze.
Unfortunately shortened, the title was initially to refer to a collection of poems by Stephane Mallarme : A throw of the dice will never abolish chance. The film appears as a sort of vicious circle from which the protagonist cannot escape – as if trapped by his destiny or the coincidence of things. This is surely the whole dimension thatYvan Attal wants to convey in his character (which he plays), Mathieu, trapped in a hellish situation.
A roll of the dice will be released in theaters on January 24, 2024.
